Here are some tips for washing Direct to Film (DTF) printed apparel: This is similar to how you should wash your screen printed shits too. Nothing special, this just helps keep these looking vibrant for 50-60 washes. They will take a beating and keep on looking like they did the day you bought it!
- Wash cold: Use cold water, ideally around 86°F (30°C).
- Wash inside out: Turn the garment inside out before washing.
- Use a gentle cycle: Use a gentle cycle or delicate cycle with a washing machine speed of around 600 rpm.
- Use mild detergent: Avoid detergents with additives like brighteners, stain fighters, or whiteners. You can also use a pH neutral detergent.
- Avoid fabric softener: Fabric softener can interact with the print and make it harder to remove dirt and odors. It can also cause the print to wear out faster and peel off.
- Limit loads: Don't overcrowd the washing machine so the garments have room to move around and avoid getting tangled.
- Dry carefully: You can tumble dry on low or fluff with no heat, but air drying is generally preferred to make the print last longer. Avoid drying in direct sunlight.
- Iron with care: Use a cool iron inside out and avoid ironing directly on the print.
